MAD FRIDAY OR MAD CHRISTMAS!!! Brawling, vomiting, collapsing and being left with one shoe: It's Mad Friday take two as revellers hit the streets of Manchester, UK
Boozed-up partygoers were seen collapsing in the road and
fighting each other as they hit bars and clubs across Britain for the SECOND
Christmas party weekend

From street brawls to drunken embraces, there were chaotic
scenes last night as thousands of revelers celebrated the second 'Mad Friday'
of the year.
Boozed-up men and women were pictured vomiting, collapsing
in the road and fighting each other as they hit bars and clubs across the
country.
In Manchester city centre, one partygoer was seen being held
near a police van by officers following an alleged brawl outside a nightclub.
Another reveller was captured throwing up in the street,
while a young woman was seen lying on the pavement, wearing only one shoe.
Amid the drama, a couple were seen leaning in for a kiss in
Withy Grove, where police were pictured holding the arms of another man.
Elsewhere, partygoers were seen looking worse for wear in
Newcastle, with many donning Christmas jumpers and red Santa hats.
And people were getting into the festive spirit in Hull,
enjoying drinks with their family and friends ahead of the big day on Sunday.
Last night's antics came a week after the first 'Mad
Friday', when revellers dressed up and went on wild nights out across the
country.
The event, which sees people fork out millions on booze, is
named for typically being one of the busiest nights of the year for emergency
crews.
Last week, police patrols in Manchester were stepped up,
with more than 60 dedicated officers tasked with specifically policing Friday night.
The same measures were in place in the city yesterday. There
were
Ahead of the event, Chief Inspector Gareth Parkin, of
Greater Manchester Police (GMP), said it was important for revellers to 'stay
in control'.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "We ask that
everyone thinks about their own safety and that of others around them.
"We want people to enjoy celebrating Christmas but it’s
important to stay in control and consider the consequences of our actions.
"While enjoying the festivities, one thoughtless act
after too much alcohol can have disastrous results.
“It’s those
split-second actions that we want people to stop and think about.
"These actions can result in devastating life-long
consequences and we don’t want anyone’s Christmas or the rest of their lives
ruined."
This morning, police said there had been 14 arrests in the
city overnight, and warned revellers they could still be over the alcohol limit
for drivers.
GMP tweeted: "Feeling worse for wear this morning? You
could still be over the limit after your madfriday night out nonefortheroad
GMPChristmas."
The post was accompanied by an image of an officer standing
in front of a wrecked vehicle.
Revellers also took to bars and clubs in Liverpool, Cardiff,
London and elsewhere last night as they took part in 'Mad Friday' celebrations.
In Cardiff, police were pictured breaking up fights as many
partygoers enjoyed a second wild Friday night - thanks to Christmas Day falling
on a Sunday.
Officers could be seen escorting revellers away as others
stumbled through the streets, took photos with their friends and waited for
buses home.
Another said their night was 'mental', while a third wrote:
"Wow!! I was a mad Friday victim. Home in bed mortal spewing by 9.30. Safe
to say I'm rough today."
'Mad Friday' is also known as 'Black Eye Friday'.
This unfortunate name comes from the fact that, after a few
too many festive tipples, some people end up getting into fights, The Chronicle
reports.
