21-year-old student becomes the youngest State Representative in Michigan
21-year-old Jewell Jones, a double major student of
Political science and Finance at University of Michigan has become the youngest
person to be elected as State Representative in Michigan, USA.
Last year at 20, he
made history as the youngest member of the Inkstar City Council. He will be
replacing former state rep, Late Julie Plawecki who passed on suddenly earlier
this year.
He defeated his
opponent, Robert Pope in the election gaining 66 votes against Robert's 33
votes.
Sharing the happy news on his Facebook page he wrote "
WE WON THE ELECTION - YOU AND I MADE HISTORY, YET AGAIN. I'm looking forward to
serving you all in a greater capacity. Please continue to pray for me, the
team, and my colleagues as we move forward, together. Keep the faith my
brothers and sisters."
Jewell is currently a member of the Black Student Union and
Student Veteran Association. He is also in the Army Reserve Officer Training
Corps (ROTC).
This can only happen in the united states and not/never in Nigeria!!! I'm just saying my own by the way.
