"I want to be bigger than Genevieve Nnaji" - Says Cameroonian Namesake
According to The VanguardNG,
Snazzy Cameroonian actress, Genevieve Nganji, isn’t a
household name in Nigeria. But back in her country, she’s as popular as
Nigeria’s Genevieve Nnaji. The sexy actress was one of the celebrities that
graced this year’s edition of the prestigious Magic Lens Africa Film Academy
awards of excellence which held in Abuja last weekend. She has resolved never
to rest on her oars until she has made a name that is bigger than that of our
dearest Genevieve.
Back in her country, she’s known as Genevieve of Cameroon.
Even though she’s looking forward to meeting Genevieve Nnaji in person, the
actress is wondering why fans are referring to her as Genevieve of Cameroon.
She said, “What is so important about her since I am not copying what she is
doing. I want to be bigger than her and I’m working very hard to achieve this
dream.” She said, each time her fans watch her movies back home, they tend to
mistake her for Ini Edo. “Fans always tell me that while I am bearing the same
name with Genevieve Nnaji, I look very much like Ini Edo,” she said, adding
that she’s optimistic she will soon become the next megastar to emerge from
Africa.
Nganji, who started acting in 2002, featuring in such movies as Land of
Shadows, alongside Zack Orji, Ramsey Nouah, “Dual Passion”, “Out of the Blue”
among others, said her big dream is to debut in Nollywood. On the movie
industry in Cameroon, Nganji regrets that most local producers are sacred of
putting their money in the industry, despite the significant improvement that
has been recorded in the industry.
