RUMOURS: Man Utd to turn to Real Madrid's Pepe
The Old Trafford club are considering making a move for the
Portuguese veteran in order to find a solution for recent defensive frailties
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to bring
counryman Pepe to the Premier League but faces competition from Juventus,
according to The Sun.
Pepe, 33, has only one year remaining on his Real Madrid
contract and the Spanish club are said to be reluctant to give him the
two-year-deal he wants.
Mourinho believes the defender, who recently won both the Champions
League and European Championships for club and country respectively, could be
the perfect solution to his side's continuing defensive woes.
Injuries to Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly leave United with
no recognised centre-backs heading in to a busy winter-period, which may lead
the Portuguese manager to dip into the transfer market sooner than expected.
