Hillary Clinton slams FBI for timing of deleted e-mail investigations, calls it 'deeply troubling' , Donald Trump slams her!
Hillary Clinton and her campaign organization on Saturday
slammed FBI director James B. Comey for coming out to disclose that the FBI was
investigating a new batch of email messages from her private server, alleging
Mr Comey was a threat to her presidential candidacy as the timing was 'deeply
troubling' while her rival Donald Trump blasted her, saying she was trying to
'politicize' FBI's investigations.
FBI director James Comey sent a letter to congressional
leaders on Friday informing them of
the existence of new emails that could be relevant to the
agency’s investigation into Clinton’s private email use four months after
clearing Hillary of any 'wrong doing in use of private email servers while
secretary of state' .
At the time (July), Comey called Clinton "extremely
careless" for the way she handled confidential information, but indicated
there would be no criminal charges filed in the case.
The letter on Friday also stated that the FBI was now
assessing “whether or not this material may be significant” and if they
contained classified information.
The emails according to the FBI, were found on the
electronic devices of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her separated husband,
former Congressman Anthony Weiner, who was being investigated by the FBI
separately for his sexting practices.
'Some of you may have heard about a letter [from] the FBI
director,” Clinton said at a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Saturday,
while the crowd booed.
“If you’re like me,
you probably have a few questions about it. It is pretty strange -- it’s pretty
strange to put something like that out with such little information right
before an election.”
“In fact,” she continued, “it’s not just strange. It’s
unprecedented, and it’s deeply troubling because voters deserve to get full and
complete facts. We’ve called on Director Comey to explain everything right away
and put it all out on the table.”
She also blasted Donald Trump, saying he'll seize on the
opportunity to 'confuse the American people'
“He is doing his best to confuse, mislead and discourage the
American people,” “I think it is time for Donald Trump to stop fear-mongering,
to stop disgracing himself, to stop attacking our democracy. We can’t let him
get away with this.”
Top members of her campaign organization also blasted the
FBI's decision to send the letter with barely nine days to the US presidential
election.
John Podesta, Clinton's campaign chairman characterized
Comey’s letter as “long on innuendo and short on facts,” adding that the
campaign stood by Abedin and that the emails weren't about Hillary.
“There’s no evidence
of wrongdoing, no charge of wrongdoing, no indication that this was even about
Hillary,” he said.
Trump in response to the FBI letter , praised them for
finally coming for Hillary and also suggesting the Department of Justice was
trying to protect Hillary Clinton.
“As you’ve heard, it was just announced yesterday that the
FBI is reopening their investigation into the criminal conduct and the illegal
conduct of Hillary Clinton,” Trump said. “Hillary has nobody but herself to
blame for her mounting legal difficulties,” he said.
“Her criminal action was willful, deliberate, intentional
and purposeful,” he continued. “Hillary set up an illegal server for the
obvious purpose of shielding her criminal conduct from public disclosure and
exposure,” he said, “knowing full well that her actions put our national
security at risk. Hillary Clinton’s corruption is corrosive to the soul of our
nation and it must be stopped,” he said. 'Haven't we had enough of the
Clinton's?
“As John Podesta said, Clinton's got bad instincts' “Well,
she’s got bad instincts when her emails are on Anthony Weiner’s wherever,”
Trump added suggestively.
'The Department of Justice is trying so hard to protect
Hillary," Trump declared. "There are those — and I happen to be one
of them — who think Hillary Clinton offered Loretta Lynch a reappointment as
attorney general."
"Folks, we're living in a third-world country. This has
never happened before. This is the lowest point in terms of our judicial
system. This is the lowest point in the history of our country. Remember that.
And when I talk about a rigged system, let's see what happens," he added.
' I have great respect for the fact that the FBI and the
Department of Justice are now willing to have the courage to right the horrible
mistake that they made,” said Trump. “This was a grave miscarriage of justice
that the American people fully understood. And it is everybody's hope that it
is about to be corrected.”
“It might not be as rigged as I thought, right?” said Trump.
“The FBI, I think they are going to right the ship, folks. I think they are
going to right the ship.”
